"Tell Me..."
The Erasmus+ project is carried out by secondary schools in Greece and Germany and Czech Republic. The aim is to develop and test different narrative forms in order to get to the bottom of the secrets of good communication. In addition, messages are examined for their truth content, fantastic parts, usefulness and intentions.
In doing so, we turn to old tales such as fairy tales and legends, but also to current news and use various forms of film and theater language, music and the visual arts.
Motivation
With this project we want to prevent early school leaving and include and motivate students with special needs (special talents and linguistic and learning difficulties).
Today, we often read short messages, comment with emoticons and only a few still take the time to tell a story in detail or to listen to a narrative. In addition, fewer children are able to understand complex texts. This begins at an early age and continues throughout the entire school career. One reason for this is the scarcity of information found online.
How do we communicate complicated experiences, what do the old, traditionally told stories teach us, how can we tell them today, how can we comment on them?
Let's take time together to find out. We want to combine different traditions of storytelling in our countries. Mixed groups of students will read and play historical fairy tales (The Grimm Brothers, Ge) and parables (Aesop parables, Gr) and they will comment it from their point of view today.
Motivation
... we will reflect on national myths and everyday experiences of exclusion. We practise democratic processes and formulate common and different values by developing a script and a presentation of various forms of performance (shadow theatre, puppet show, reading, singing, comics) in mixed groups. Stereotypes will be questioned using the fairy tale "Allerleirauh" as well as the message of Aesop's fable "The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf". We will examine the meaning and purpose of "lies" in fairy tales and on the basis of the fable. Pupils with special difficulties (socio-economic, linguistic and emotional-social difficulties) are integrated to a special extent. The international cooperation offers a new spectrum of methods and contents to learn as well as the possibility to share the valuable experience of being foreign with each other.
Aims
Students and teachers will:
- get to know cultures of other countries and their own country
- get international contacts and deepen intercultural competences
- strengthen social skills and team building competences
- test and improve their artistic, acting and storytelling skills
- get skills about digital video and audio editing
- strengthen their media literacy, protection of personal rights as well as copyright right
- raise awareness of the context of the European Union, particularly with regard to the EU's common values, the principles of unity and diversity, and its social, cultural and historical heritage.
- strengthen the English language and the first language of participants
Results
There will be a stage performance at our schools, puppets, costumes and a script in Greek, German and English language. We plan to publish Twinspace pages showing the process and this project blog to show results.
